IE FOR CAPOEIRA

“Educate in Movement” is based on the use of root capoeira — a bodily, rhythmic, and community-based discipline of Afro-Brazilian origin — as a pedagogical and therapeutic tool for the prevention and transformation of trauma.

Beyond traditional practice, the activity integrates an unique approach developed by InEmotion, combining ethnographic proposals, kinaesthetic empathy, and psycho-emotional balance, thereby establishing an innovative and holistic methodology:

Ethnographic Proposals: Capoeira is understood and applied as a living cultural phenomenon, integrating its historical, social, and symbolic dimensions to foster a deep understanding of respect, identity, and cultural diversity. This perspective allows participants to connect with authentic cultural roots that enrich the educational experience and promote inclusion.

Kinaesthetic Empathy: Through bodily movement and motor sensitivity, participants develop the ability to “read” and respond to their own and others’ emotions and inner states, strengthening non-verbal communication and interpersonal connection. This creates a space of active listening and presence that supports emotional regulation and peaceful conflict resolution.

Psycho-Emotional Balance: The guided and structured practice of capoeira cultivates balance between body and mind, helping participants manage anxiety, stress, and aggressiveness, while fostering states of active calm and self-confidence — fundamental for learning and coexistence.

We evaluate the socio-emotional and pedagogical impact using qualitative and quantitative indicators.

This theoretical-practical integration highlights the importance of the body and movement in socio-emotional and cognitive development (Cameron et al., 2019; Siegel, 2012), and contributes an innovative dimension to socio-emotional education.
